Mai Mangeshkar Hospital began in 2010 in one building as a small 50 bedded suburban hospital. At the core of this hospital was the need to be honest and meaningful in delivering healthcare to the surrounding community. Facilities and resources were limited but within those constraints the hospital delivered rational, ethical medical care at affordable cost with attention to empathy and a service mind set at all times. The hospital soon became a trusted centre for people. After 12 years of service, the hospital started expanding into the remaining three buildings on campus and grew into a 200 bedded multispeciality hospital. The centre now provides end to end care under one roof. Mai Mangeshkar Hospital has a well laid out OPD Complex providing care to outpatients through more than thirty different departments.
The OPD is unique in that it works all 365 days, 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. For accident and emergency needs the hospital has a 24X7 casualty service newly designed and kitted. Every emergency and threat to life can be attended to in this unit by consultant specialist doctors. The hospital has blood storage centre too. Out patients and admitted patients are served by quality pathology laboratory, microbiology services and radiology and imaging department. The investigations are dependable, trustworthy, standard and value for money spent. The hospital has a 23-bedded ICU and 8 bedded high dependency unit to cater to critical and serious patients as well as those requiring continuous monitoring. For patients who require only a day’s worth stay like cataract surgery, minor procedures, transfusion etc there is a dedicated 8 bedded Day Care Centre. There are well laid out, well lighted and well ventilated male and female general wards. Hospital’s newly built semi private rooms are the best in its class with full privacy, personal TV and clean shared conveniences.
All the 24 private rooms are newly renovated and turned into a brand new outfit. The atmosphere is calm and serene aiding patient recovery. There is a new 100 seating capacity canteen managed by professional catering services. It serves delightful food and drinks as well as provides room service and patient diet. The hospital has strict infection control policy and implementation and detailed, intensive round the clock housekeeping.
The hospital has an entire newly built floor dedicated to operation theatre and related departments. Mai Mangeshkar has 5 operation theatres. All have the latest technology and equipment and advanced complex surgeries like neuro surgery, joint replacement and laproscopic procedures can be handled here. Having all the departments previously mentioned give these theatres skilled and effective backup.
A new renovated labour unit has been developed and deployed. This gives obstetric patients the cozy, personal attention they need. A three bedded neonatal intensive care unit is attached to the labour room. Attended by specialists the newborns are in safe hands.
The hospital has efficient teams for maintenance and comply to strict standards. A team looks after all electronicly generated medical records. Medical records are meticulously maintened. All statutory compliances are made punctually. A transparent billing system is followed. A schedule of charges is made by a committee of people coming from all walks of life after assessing costs. It strives to give affordable healthcare. No cash transactions without bill are allowed in the hospital. No commissions are given. All accounts are internally and externally audited.
The essence of the hospital is in its 400 staff members. There are at least 4 to 5 staff members on duty per patient at any given time. All staff is carefully selected based on qualification, skill, experience and attitude. The core philosophy is to strive to give one’s best each day. The work culture is to be steadfast and kind hearted to patients and family and is driven by empathy. Staff are treated with love, care and support at all times. Staff and patient safety is paramount. Staff are given incentives and appraisals each year. Holistic healthcare is offered to them. The resultant is a work ethic of genuine caring, humaneness and being gentle. The true backbone of the hospital is caring about how we make the other person feel.
Nirantar means never wavering, steadfast. Being there no matter what. Suhrud is a close friend with a kind heart and helping hand.
Nirantar Suhrud is what we strive to be each day to patients entrusted to our care and their families. Besides the latest versions of technology and equipment, Mai Mangeshkar believes in being the best version of one self, eager to be useful and finding joy in devoted steadfast, kind service.
In the words of Rabindranath Tagore
“I slept and dreamt that life was joy.
I awoke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold: Service was joy”
